Should I rent drive-up or climate-controlled storage in Temple?

What kind of self storage unit you need depends on how you plan to use it and what you plan to store. Long-term storage typically favors climate control, as do items like clothing, bedding, and furniture. If you will load and unload items frequently, a drive-up unit may be more convenient.

How does self storage work?

Storage facilities, like Temple Star Storage, offer rentable storage space on a month-to-month basis when you need more space. With self storage, you move your belongings in and out and can access your belongings during the facility’s gate hours. When you no longer need the space, you just inform the location and move your belongings out of the storage unit.

What type of storage unit do I need?

There are a bunch of things that can influence this decision. Do you plan to store a lot of heavy items like furniture? Then you may need the convenience of a drive-up storage unit. Are you mostly storing holiday decorations or other sensitive items—such as clothing, electronics, furniture, antiques, books, and musical instruments? Then we would recommend an indoor, climate-controlled unit.

What can I store in a storage unit?

Storage units can be used to store a wide variety of items, from furniture to vehicles. Items prohibited include anything that is illegal, flammable, or combustible, or that will rot.

Do I need to buy insurance for my storage unit?

Insurance is a requirement for any storage unit. If you have homeowners or renter’s insurance, it might extend to your storage unit. We also offer a protection plan for your items. It is recommended that customers utilize our plan even if they are using their homeowners or renter’s policy, as it prevents your insurance premiums from going up in the event of a claim.

Do I need my own lock?

With move-in, we provide you with a lock at no additional cost to you!

What security measures are in place?

Temple Star Storage is equipped with a state-of-the-art, fully inclusive security system. We are fenced with restricted and individualized gate code access. This allows us to know who comes and goes from the facility and when. Our facility also features extensive video monitoring, so should anything happen on the premises, it will be captured. Our facility is well-lit to ensure the safety of our late-night and early-morning customers.

Can I live or sleep in a storage unit?

No. It is against the law to live in a storage unit. We are not zoned, permitted, or insured as domestic housing but rather as storage.

Can I run a business out of a storage unit?

Yes! We offer several business-friendly storage solutions. Our storage units provide convenient, affordable space to store inventory, parts, and materials for your business. We also offer larger units that can serve as mini warehouses for businesses with large storage needs.

Can I store a car or motorcycle in a storage unit?

Yes! Working vehicles can be stored in storage units. Storage units serve as a secure, safe space for vehicles of all sizes. We also have outdoor storage available for cars, RVs, boats, and more.

How secure is self storage?

Safety and security are our top 2 priorities. We have a state-of-the-art security system. We also offer smart unit technology that can be purchased at a small additional cost to alert you of any activity in your unit.

Are storage units climate controlled in Temple?

We offer units with climate control. Climate-controlled storage typically keeps storage units between temperatures of 65 and 85 degrees year-round. We recommend climate control for anyone storing sensitive items—such as clothing, electronics, furniture, antiques, books, and musical instruments.

What pest control and cleanliness measures are taken?

Every building at Temple Star Storage is treated for pests and rodents on a regular schedule. We request that all of our customers not store anything that might attract pests to their units. This includes food and other perishable goods. This will also help to maintain the general cleanliness of the facility and of units.

Can I buy moving boxes and supplies from you?

Yes, there are boxes available, packing tape, furniture pads, and many other moving and packing supplies available for purchase. Whether you need a couple of moving boxes or an entire pallet load, Temple Star Storage has what you need to make your next move as smooth as possible.
